Knoxville, Tennessee
(in construction)
This North Knoxville project includes a compact home and an accessory unit on a standard city lot. This “micro-homestead” surrounds a garden where the owner will grow most of her own food. A gabled form that responds to the neighborhood character in front is stretched in the back to face south, capturing useful solar gain in the winter. A steel structure defines the primary geometry of the main house, supporting a highly insulated roof of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels).
